When my email popped up saying Merci had launched it’s online store, the hellish tube ride to work quickly vanished from my mind. Instead, memories of my last trip to Paris came flooding back – to be specific, stumbling into Merci and quite truly believing I’d found heaven in a shop!

So much more than a shop, Merci has heart  -  and a very big one too – combining luxury consumerism and philanthropy by donating all profits to education and development projects in Madagascar. The owners simply wishing to pay it forward and say – “MERCI to life!”

While being French is almost a guaranteed pass on the style front, Merci could exist anywhere in the world and still take your breath away.

If like me, you don’t live a train ride away from Paris (just let me gloat!) then Merci online is a far more accessible option; opening up a world of linens, Merci medallions, ridiculously stylish plates and bowls, oh the list could go on!  Admittedly, it doesn’t quite capture the true amazingness of the Marais store, but it does give you a pretty good taster.

Love Jemmi x

Margiela Mayhem

Who partook in the madness of Margeila for H&M yesterday? Finally released after much anticipation, it seems the collaboration launch was not without the standard website crash, the overnight queues, and the crazy that seems to come out with a limited edition designer collab at affordable prices (no judgement – I would lump myself into this category too).

I was bang on time, jumping on to their website and breezing through the initial stages of adding to my cart – I was almost disappointed at how easy it was appearing to be. I mean – why hasn’t the website crashed yet? Mmm… spoke too soon.

It all went wrong at the most important sealing of the deal – payment. After failing all my security questions (what the hell – that was my cat’s name!) my card was officially blocked and I was left to deal with the devastation. I then called my bank in a state of hurried panic – apparently shopping on H&M is not an urgent matter and the call centre was closed. What the hell? What kind of self-respecting bank has calling hours? And who doesn’t understand the urgency of this situation?

But then, a glimmer of hope… turns out the trusting folk at H&M will send out your parcel with a payment slip inside. Seems too good to be true – who sends you something and trusts you to pay later? But then, the website CRASHES. Great.

With some seriously persistent refreshing, I won out and this oversized pea coat will be mine! Had to sleep in this morning after my night of adrenaline-filled fun and dismay (what a rollercoaster) but I woke up feeling that little bit more satisfied that next winter I’ll be strutting around in my dream coat.

Psst…

Available online in Australia today. Just trying to help a girl out… x

My Heart Wanders

It is quite something when a stranger, who you only know as far as their online persona, can inspire and motivate you to start following your dreams… That is exactly what Pia Jane Bijkerk of Pia Jane Bijkerk blog did to me as I regularly stopped by her blog to relish in the peaceful, dreamlike, and wholesome atmosphere created by her images and words. Pia’s books are equally magical and meditative and can now be bought via her own bookstore, with the treat of being signed and wrapped by Pia herself. Enjoy x
